We strive to plan fun social events that allow for postdocs to relax, enjoy some food and activities, and get to know one another beyond their everyday work
Creating an interpersonal network
The primary role of our social committee is to engage and network within our postdoctoral community both in Evanston and in Chicago. We believe establishing a strong interpersonal network is key to professional development, and we are focused on providing these kinds of opportunities to all of our postdocs.
To this end, the social committee is actively planning happy hour events throughout the year where free food will be provided and where we can get to know one another through a fun activity. In addition to our events, we hope these opportunities will allow postdocs with common interests to get to know one another and pursue planning their own events, whether by forming a sports team to compete in local leagues around the area or putting together groups to watch one of the many performances in Evanston or downtown Chicago. By continuing to grow our network and representation, we hope that Northwestern's Postdoctoral Association will continue to develop into a strong, recognizable presence on both campuses.
We serve both campuses
Each campuses has an independent committee for "social and sports" so that we can serve all postdocs. However, each committee closely collaborate with their colleagues from the other campus.
Interested in becoming involved?
We are excited! Please reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org more information, or talk to one of our members during one of our many "social and sports" activities.
